The basics
What is Kangaroo Kitchen?
Kangaroo Kitchen is a dinner planner for families on iPhone. It fills your week from your own recipe box, leaves out meals that break your table's allergies and diets, puts quick meals on busy nights, and turns the plan into one grocery list your household shares. The Android app is in testing and is not on Google Play yet.
Where do the dinners in Kangaroo Kitchen come from?
From you. The planner only ever plans from your own recipe box. You can add meals by hand, paste a link to import a recipe from a recipe site, add quick ones like Pizza night or Leftovers with one tap, or save real published recipes from the starter library.
Does Kangaroo Kitchen use AI to write recipes?
No. Every recipe in Kangaroo Kitchen is either one you added or a real published recipe you chose to save. Nothing is invented. Fill my week chooses between your own recipes using plain rules, and tells you the reason for each pick.
What if I only have a few recipes?
It still fills the week. With a small box it repeats a meal rather than leave a night empty, and it avoids repeating anything within 14 days when your box allows it. It gets better as your box grows toward the 20 or 30 meals most families rotate through.

How does Kangaroo Kitchen handle allergies and diets?
You pick your household's allergies and diets once, and we never suggest a meal with an ingredient on that list. Matching works on recipe and ingredient names, so it can miss things. It is not a food-safety guarantee. Always read labels and check ingredients yourself.
What about foods my kids just won't eat?
Add them as dislikes. Meals with those ingredients are suggested less often, but they are not banned. If you choose the kid-friendly priority, the planner also favors the meals your household has made three or more times. Today preferences cover the whole household, not each person.
How does Kangaroo Kitchen know which nights are busy?
Either you tell it or your phone works it out. Turn on Busy night when you pick a dinner, or turn on Busy nights from your calendar in Settings. Your phone looks at when you are busy between 5 and 8 pm and sends us one number: the minutes you have to cook that night. Event details never leave your phone.
What gets planned on a busy night?
Only meals that fit the time you have: recipes whose hands-on time is within the night's budget, no-cook meals, and slow cooker meals, since that work happens in the morning. If nothing in your box fits, the night stays empty so you can decide.
Sharing and shopping
How do I invite my partner to Kangaroo Kitchen?
Create an invite code in Settings and send it to your partner. They get the app at kangarookitchen.app/get and enter the code the first time they sign in. You then share one recipe box, plan and grocery list. A code works once and lasts 7 days.
Does the grocery list work in a store with no signal?
Yes. The grocery list is built on your phone, so it works with no signal. Your check-offs sync to your partner's phone when you are back online. Planning nights and marking busy nights work offline too.
Do I have to keep a pantry inventory?
No. A one-minute setup marks what you usually keep around. After that, ticking things off in the store is the only upkeep. Staples stay off your list until you tap Running low, and things you buy sometimes come back on the list about two weeks after you last bought them.
Account, price and data
How much does Kangaroo Kitchen cost?
Kangaroo Kitchen is free during early access. There are no in-app purchases and no card to enter. If that changes, the app will tell you before anything is charged.
Is there an Android version of Kangaroo Kitchen?
Not yet. The Android app is in testing and is not on Google Play, so Kangaroo Kitchen is on iPhone only for now. Your kitchen is kept on our server, not on the phone, so when the Android app is out you can sign in with the same email or Google account and find the same meals, plan and grocery list.
Can I get my recipes out of Kangaroo Kitchen?
Yes. In Settings, Export meals gives you every meal you keep as one file, archived meals included, and your phone asks where to save or send it. Your meals are yours.
How do I delete my Kangaroo Kitchen account?
In the app, open Settings, tap Delete account at the bottom and confirm twice. On iPhone, Settings is the last tab. On Android, it opens from the round account button at the top right. Export your meals first, because deletion can't be undone.
